A total of 1,075 visitors (451 school students, 250 Pokhara Technical School students, 15 exhibitors, 107 Eye camp visitors, 40 school faculty, 70 volunteers, 55 invitees, 20 media, 55 community visitors, 12 students from Pokhara School of Bar Tenders) attended the Pokhara launch of the Public Information Campaign on 12 Feb 2020 at Pokhara. Out of the 451 students, there were 224 male and 227 female students.
Damu Adhikari, President Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries together with Mr. Ram Hari Devkota, CTEVT Provincial Chief inaugurated the event. The formal event saw remarks from representative of key employers’ associations - HAN, REBAN, TAAN, NATTA including representative from Pokhara Tourism Council, all welcoming and expressing solidarity towards the campaign which they called a much-needed initiative in the TVET sector. President of Pokhara Journalist Association stated the media as the key instrument in raising awareness on the benefit of TVET and in this regard, the media awards as a good incentive to increase media reporting on TVET.
Second half of the TVET Mela and Skills demonstration was a vibrant with live food and drinks preparation by students of the Pokhara Technical School. Delegates and students visited the food stall.
Visitors were equally engaged at the engineering/nursing exhibition booths, private and job placement booth and TAAN booth. The Free Eye Camp by the students from the school was one of the main highlights of the event. The main attraction however was the 'bottle flaring' by the students of bartender school who are previous students of Pokhara Technical School. Students were seen taking photo and selfies at various booths. Campaign information brochure including other relevant flyers were handed at the event to increase information on skills opportunities.
